
Overview
VBA Line Numbers with CodeLiner shows line numbers in Excel, Access and Word.
How To Install for Excel/Word
- To install VBA Line Numbers with CodeLiner for use with Microsoft Excel or Word, first download the free trial.
- As with all downloaded files, ensure the file is unblocked: right-click the CodeLiner.zip file, select Properties, and if you see an Unblock button, click Unblock, then OK:

- Unzip the CodeLiner.zip and go to the “Excel” folder or “Word” folder.
- Run the setup.exe as an Administrator, then click Install:

That’s it!

How To Install for Access
- To install VBA Line Numbers with CodeLiner for use with Microsoft Access, first download the free trial.
- As with all downloaded files, ensure the file is unblocked: right-click the CodeLiner.zip file, select Properties, and if you see an Unblock button, click Unblock, then OK:

Unzip the CodeLiner.zip and run the setup.exe file:

- Click OK:

- Click the large button containing the “computer” icon:

- After the install completes, there is a prompt – click OK:

That’s it!

How To Use
- To use VBA Line Numbers with CodeLiner, open your Excel workbook (or Access or Word file).
- Go to its VBA Editor (also known as the Macro Editor or VBE Editor).
- To add line numbers to your VBA project, click the Add Code Line Numbers button in the new toolbar:

- To remove code line numbers from the selected VBA project, click the Remove Code Line Numbers button:

Starting Line Number Option
CodeLiner has options for custom line numbering.
By default, CodeLiner starts numbering at 1. If you’d like to set a custom starting line number:
- Open your Excel workbook (or Word file, if applicable).
- Go to its VBA Editor (also known as the Macro Editor or VBE Editor).
- On the CodeLiner toolbar, click the Options for line numbering button, then type the line number that CodeLiner will start numbering from. FYI: The option will last for as long as Office is open:

How To Adjust Security
If you have our software installed but it is not working as expected, your Office security settings may need to be configured:
- Open Excel or Access or Word (i.e. whichever Office product is experiencing the issue), then click the Office button
, then click Options (your version may differ):

- In the left pane, select Trust Center, then click Trust Center Settings…:

- In the left pane, select Macro Settings. Check the box for Trust access to the VBA project object model. Ensure that the Macro Settings is at least Disable all macros with notification, then click OK:

- Close and re-open Office. If you still experience issues, you may need to uninstall, then re-install VBA Line Numbers with CodeLiner.

How To Uninstall
To remove VBA Line Numbers with CodeLiner from your computer, follow these steps:
-
- For Windows 7 and higher: Go to Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features. Right-click CodeLiner by Tumbling Wave Software, then select Uninstall/Change;
- For Windows XP: Go to Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, select CodeLiner by Tumbling Wave Software, then click Change/Remove:

- Click Yes:

- Click OK:
